Beauty regimen of a mommy

Was browsing a magazine online and reading this article when it struck me that my beauty regimen or rather skin TLC is actually next to NOTHING. Ever since I became a mom, my daily beauty regimen is to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize. And that's pretty much it. Obviously I do regular visits to the parlor just to make sure I don't grow hairy bushes all over my face ;) and once in a while when I look really really old with shiny grey hair, I decide to actually find the time to color my mane using one of those do it yourself boxes at home. But other than that, really nothing.

Isn't that scary? Atleast I thought it was quite scary when I glanced into the elevator mirror the other day just casually but what actually caught my eye for the first time were new lines under my eyes when I smiled!!! Yikes! I never had an eye for such things ever and thought that all women who obsess over such things are vain. So you can only imagine how obvious it must be for a woman like me to notice such a thing! And I am only in my very very early thirties! Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Please new mommies - do fill me in on what your beauty regimen is. And more than anything, how do you find the time to get things like facials etc. done? I mean when I was actually a working mom, I had a full time nanny to look after my little N so I could sneak out time here an there for an occassional pedicure or facial etc. But now that I am at working from home full time, who do I leave the baby with for such things? Weekends fly by just running errands - so when do you stay-at-home or working-from-home moms manage to take out time for beauty regimens?

Divs, its the same for me. Since I work out of home, whenever I am at home I spend all my time with my baby. I somehow just manage to get some basics done at the parlor. However, I think in my entire life I somehow never had the time for a pedicure or a facial...yups, i think ive been ignoring my skin. I suggest you take your baby along with some of her fav toys and see how it works. I consider myself lucky if I can afford to spend more than 10 minutes while bathing and wash my face more than twice a day! phew!

Hi Preeti - am so glad to know I am not alone :-) I've tried taking her with me along with a few other mommy friends so that we can take turns watching each other's kids. But she cried a lot when held with friends. So now I just take her along and have her sit in my lap. Earlier it was funny to see how she cried coz she was scared abt what they were doing to mommy :-) Now she has overcome the fear and actually plays and sings along while I rush up for my basics at the parlor. Was amazed to see another mom doing the same thing with her 1 year old the other day! Brought a smile to my face :-)

I am going through the same feelings. In the early to mid twenties I always thought I will never have such feelings for beauty or skin care. But it is not the same anymore. In fact, I have become more fashion conscious now than I was when I was in college or in my twenties. And you are right about the facial hairy bushes. Wait till you have your second one!! My face esp. chin has become a fertile land for thick, dark hair which have to be weeded out everyday. Cannot wait for the parlor visit or else hubby will offer his razor :)) Every time I go for eyebrows, the lady says, "aapko facial ki zaroorat hai." I think, "ye baat mujhe bhi pataa hai. Batane ki zaroorat nahi hai." Gosh these beauticians make you all the more conscious.

Gosh Hetal...glad to hear someone else is in the same boat as mine :-) Just before parlor visits are the times when I have seriously considered laser hair removal...atleast with that done, it will be one less thing to worry about. And btw don't scare me abt the second one man or else I will be discouraged pretty soon :-)

And btw - I had guessed who hvp was even before you mentioned. Quite nice to hear from you after so long :-)

Yeah! Never thot we would get back in touch through the blogger world. Had each others email ids, phone nos., etc, but never kept in touch. I guess we both got each others updates from Nimisha so never took the effort. It definitely feels good talking (exchanging comments) with you after so many years!
I am also considering laser removal, but I have heard it is a lengthy process. So, I am just waiting till I move back to CA and then start the process.
Nikita is really cute. Though I love my kids to death, I miss having a girl. Don't say go for a third one... 'coz I am done!
O btw, I have added you to my list of blogs I frequent. I always visited your blog via Jyoti's. :))

SBJ - Guess who?
Div, I can understand your beauty concerns, if you can try to then exfoliate once a week, atleast your face, and body once a fortnight, especially after waxing to make sure the ingrown hair does not bother you later.

I guess we mommies have to have a ‘me’ time once in a while (I had my first one in ages 2 weeks ago) when our hubbies can take care of babies and that is when you go for your special treats ‘facial / massage’. I think most important part of the beauty top is de-stress.

Hey Miss SBJ - I instantly knew who you are just by looking at the initials :-) So...you had some 'me' time huh! Good to hear. Yeah I do try to get some 'me' time myself too but there are sooo many more things to be done in that limited time that beautification sometimes slips low on the priority list. I think when I grow older (and uglier) I'll just go for cosmetic surgery - what say;)?
